HKS performance camshafts change valve opening characteristics to suit the engine build. Select the exact engine, intake or exhaust side, duration and stage; similar displacement or chassis names do not make cams interchangeable.
FITMENT
The selector identifies vehicle applications where known and engine families for the multi-vehicle Toyota JZ options. Confirm the engine version, VVT system and applied-model code against the HKS part number.
SPECIFICATIONS
Intake and exhaust camshafts are separate parts unless the option explicitly says set.
STEP1 / SS-CAM: HKS profiles intended for compatible standard cylinder heads and valve springs.
STEP2: increased lift; suitable springs and engine clearances are required.
V Camshaft: specific to the corresponding factory variable-valve-timing engine.
INSTALLATION NOTES
RB26 STEP2: strengthened springs, piston-recess work and cylinder-head cam clearance are required. R34 exhaust cams differ from R32/R33 versions.
SR20: match NVCS and non-NVCS intake versions. These listed applications are SR20DET, not a general SR20DE fitment promise.
RB25: listed ECR33 cams are for early NVCS engines through August 1997 with an aluminium cam-angle sensor; not NEO engines.
4G63: check valve-spring and retainer requirements; STEP2 Evo VIII applications require strengthened springs 22001-AM001 and Evo VII retainers. MIVEC cam changes also require appropriate valve-timing control.
FA20: 22002-AT005 is applied A; 22002-AT006 is applied B–H. Both require compatible HKS capacity-upgrade kit 21004-AT002 or 21004-AT003 for piston-to-valve clearance and appropriate fuel, ignition and valve-timing calibration.
VR38 22002-AN038: cam and valve-spring set requires HKS kit 21004-AN018/AN019 or STEP2 piston-and-rod set 21004-AN017.
