This system has been designed to handle oil pressure drops while racing. It has two main functions:
Build up oil circuit pressure before starting the engine.
Top up oil during low pressure surges in the circuit.
It is a watertight cylinder with a piston that separates oil and air. Depending on the pressure of oil in the circuit, the cylinder fills up until it achieves a balance between air pressure and oil pressure. As such, if pressure drops in the engine, it releases the oil accumulated to make up for the fall in pressure. It can be controlled using three types of valve:
Manual 1/4-turn valve
Standard solenoid valve: quick draining and filling, ideal for building up pressure before starting the engine or in drag/run type applications.
EPC solenoid valve: the must-have for racing: automatically triggered when the critical level is reached.
This valve comes with three default minimum pressure levels. It is the only valve for competition use, to deliver pressure before starting up and to top up during the race.
Fitting instructions: Fits to the standard oil circuit using a sandwich plate and a T piece after the cooler. Can also be fitted to the oil sump. It is recommended that you fit the oil end slightly higher than the air end, to prevent air bubbles forming in the oil.
